Council’s 170th meeting was held on 1st August 2008. The meeting was chaired by Chairman of the Council, Dr. Muhammad Khalid Masud. All the members of the Council attended the meeting except Syed Afzal Haider. Important issues were discussed in the meeting. Among these issues were Islamization of Laws, prohibition on smoking (it was said that there was no text in the Quran about prohibition of cigarette smoking but it has harmful effect on human body so it should be avoided by every human being) , issue of the absconded husband, Grounds for decree for dissolution of marriage, Khula and other relevant problems were discussed as well.
